FAQ: Setting up Macro and Micro Businesses
Q.How should I save the templates and spreadsheets while using them in practise?
A.After downloading the templates and spreadsheets save them to a directory named Templates. When you want to use a spreadsheet for example, open it and then immediately save it to another directory named after the business you are working with. If you want to use it several times for the same business, then you need to rename it each time you open it, so you have each file saved separately.
Q.I want to modify the spreadsheet/template but it is protected and I can’t edit it.
A.In Excel, go to Format, then click on Unprotect sheet. It will then ask for a password, enter 1961. After you have made the changes to the spreadsheet, test it before protecting and saving it.
In Word, open the template and then click on the heading Review, then Protect. Click Undo protection and enter in the password 1961. After making changes be sure to protect the document before you save it.
Q.If I get stuck with a spreadsheet what can I do?
A.You can email me directly with the spreadsheet, your contacts and the problem you are experiencing. I will do my level best to repair it for you at no charge.
Q.Am I allowed to sell or give any spreadsheets or templates away to others?
A.No, the contents of each eBook are covered by Copyright. You may use the templates and spreadsheets for your own business or personal use only. Additional spreadsheets are available to others at AUD$4.95 each direct from myself.
Q.Will I have to pay for any new spreadsheets or templates when they become available?
A.No, for the 1st 12 months from buying either eBook, all new templates and spreadsheets will be emailed to your address free of charge.
Q.Can I email you with general enquiries regarding business?
A.Yes you can at present. As long as I have the time available I will endeavour to assist you.
Q.Will you be updating the eBook and templates?
A.Yes. I will email you revisions as I do them. This will be by way of single documents. At the end of your 12 months I will email you the latest Full eBook with all the revisions in it if you request it.
Q.The template documents have ‘My Business’ as the title, what can I do?
A.Unprotect the sheets as described above, then type over the text with your business name. If you have a logo, insert it along with your name and in the case of the Invoice set, insert it where I have the generic logo. Remember to search each document and replace My Business with your own business name. Then protect the sheet before saving it.
Q.I am reading all about protected documents, does this mean I have to unprotect them before I can use them?
A. No. The documents and spreadsheets are ready to go and can be used immediately. The reason for editing them is so you can put in additional information, such as your business name, logo or additional fields you may want. If you decide to customise any of the templates then you will need to unprotect them first.
